update

A rhyme from the man himself on surgery day for Gabrielle to post on Facebook for him:
Hey all my facebook friends
My helmet days have some to an end.
I'm off to the hospital today
So please let me hear you pray.
I'm going to hang my helmet on the trophy wall
I'll hang it there, one and all.
Next time you see me I'll have my bone flap in,
Hopefully they don't have to use the tin.

For anyone that doesn't know, Dad is a rhyming fool these days! He sings and rhymes everything and really thinks he is hilarious. And from his rhyme you can tell, he was excited to be done with the helmet. He was is good spirits heading into surgery and even headed into the OR with a big grin singing "doctor gonna knock me out."
Surgery went very well, they were able to use his bone and not the "tin." The doctor was very pleased with everything. He was only speechless when he heard that Ally's water broke during surgery! Dad is recovering well. He has a headache, which is to be expected, and he's "having a hard time balancing the ice pack because he doesn't have a flat head anymore." He is in the trauma stepdown unit (same bed he was in back in October - weird) and he keeps apologizing to anyone that recognizes him for his behavior last time he was there and thanking them for doing such a wonderful job . They are supposed to remove his blood clot filter today and then come home tomorrow. Keep those prayers coming for a speedy recovery.
