Kate turned 30 this year so Dad wrote a poem about her life so far. He was so proud!

Katie

We were a young couple with our first daughter growing

With Baby #2 on the way, south of New Jersey we were going

Katie was born in Delaware – Dover you see

Our Little girl Katie was born on 8-3-83

Katie had the name of Katie Eckert and Kate Keller

And this I must tell her

Her middle name was after a great woman named Lil

As a family in Delaware adding Katie was a great thrill

As a little girl she was not bad

When she started having seizures it was sad

As always Grandmom knew what to do

Katie you see she breathed life right back in to you

We moved to Barrington where Daddy grew up and we will survive

Dad, Mom, Jami and Katie did ride up 295

In Barrington we did arrive

Katie was a little sister all the time she was alive

Allison was on her way, so a big sister Katie would be

A Big Sister, A Little Sister as you can see

Katie was a large part of a Happy Family

Watching Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp they would insist

But 101 Dalmations was at the top of the list

They always played with dolls, Barbie and Ken

Growing up they watched movies, their favorite Now and Then

In the yard we would set up a tent

As Lewis and Clark into the woods we went

In the woods the deer were prancing

We headed back home to watch Dirt Dancing

To you this might sound a little crazy

We jumped off the couch and danced like Patrick Swayze

Next for Katie was off to school

A nice dress, a full back pack – she was cool

Mom always got her ready, with her hair she would fuss

To school Katie would never take the bus

Once the bus arrived with Mrs. Arthur at the wheel

That’s when the bus became a big deal

At school Katie worked hard and had fun

A good learning foundation had begun

Everynight homework it would be

It all paid off she got into the spelling be

Katie studied hard then she would play

Then more work – a tent for Family Day

During Family Nights we would watch movies and play a game

Candy Land, Shoots & Ladders - My Little Pony would keep it tame

In sports Katie did well, I must say

It was softball and soccer she did play

In High School it was field hockey in the fall

Then it was tennis, the quiet sport as I recall

In size Katie was small

But on the courts she stood tall

Next for Kate it was the Stage Crew

Setting up the stage and making costumes is what she would do

At times she even got to sing

Always busy, these were “a few of her favorite things”

In High School Katie got good grades

She earned a scholarship to Gettysburg where there were always Ghost Raids

With so many things to do Katie would make list

So she became a School Psychologist

As they got older it was concert for fun

Off to Brittany Spears they did run

Then Hootie and Dave Matthews

Next came Weezer and they hit the booze

They got pretty loaded and fell asleep on the bathroom floor

Back to the show, they were drunk for sure

Walking around they acted fine but could not get in

The cops stopped them and asked where they had been

They got away – but they turned themselves in

In travel Katie was off to Europe, she left in a plane

She landed in Germany went around the country and ended in Spain

Kate loved to travel so off to the West Coast

San Francisco, Seattle, LA but Wine  Country she loved the most

As a youngster Katie always worked and had fun

Now as she turns 30 her life has Just Begun!
