Update 10/23

The short version:
Dad was agitated last night - didn't say how bad though. They had to "belt" him in his wheel chair because he tries to get out!! (I am not surprised at that!) Today was his first day in real clothes. Yay! Occupational Therapy got him all dressed - he wasn't able to help a lot but he was able to pull his own pants up.  He had a 1/2 hour of speech in the morning where he looked at a family picture and named everyone correctly. And he did a good job eating a couple of pieces of ice. They were going to try pudding but he had no interest. He was too tired from his morning up in his chair when physical therapy came in this afternoon. They took it easy on him because it was his first day but tomorrow we'll make sure he rests earlier and is ready to rock that therapy session! Keep sending your positive thoughts and prayers we can feel them.

Loner version:
Gabrielle was there this morning, she updated that: Dad was sitting in his wheelchair for most of the morning which is a really big step. He was talking a lot and making sense when she got there he asked where she was and he's been waiting since 8oclock last night cause i wasn't here when everyone else was... he said they don't let him walk because he hit his head and it's all whacked up.. that he hit his head and had to go to the emergency room then to a room and now here and he's sick of it. He was definitely mad that he can't have water... he told her "stop talking, you're wasting time i need water"... "get out of here im mad at you." Then he was trying to take his belt off and his helmet - it was going on for like a half hour and he finally settled down and goes "whewwww get me some water im dying of thirst." The nurse made him a deal if he just leaves the helmet on he'll do whatever he can to help dad, so dad said "deal".. then if dad takes his helmet off and the aide looks at him dad goes "Ohhh fine" and puts it back on. This aide can't believe how.strong dad is he has moved his entire chair a pretty decent amount with the breaks on and everything.

This afternoon and evening Dad was extremely tired. Physical therapy came at 1 but couldn't rouse him. Once they did, he said no. At 2 the speech therapist came in. He wasn't awake enough to try any ice or pudding. The therapist was holding up objects form him to name and he did know "flashlight" but he was focused on getting his sneaker, boot and leggings (to prevent clots) off. Physical therapy came back and he still didn't want to get up but he was telling her 'stories.' Our funniest moment of the day came when the physical therapist was leaving - she made him a deal that tomorrow he would get out of bed and walk a little. She said to shake on it, so he made his goofy face and shook his body. We all laughed he said "I think I'm funny." So he's in there coming out little by little.
